Frequently asked questions
What counts as a whale transaction?
A single transfer above a per-coin USD threshold. Thresholds are volume-scaled, not flat: smaller-cap coins use a lower bar so their flow is not drowned out by Bitcoin volume. The floor is $10,000 and the cap is $2,000,000 per transaction.
What is the difference between exchange inflow and outflow?
Exchange inflow is coins moving onto a centralised exchange, typically before being sold (selling pressure). Outflow is coins moving off-exchange into self-custody, typically accumulation. Aggregate net flow across all coins is one of the inputs into market positioning.
How often is the whale data updated?
Continuously. Scanners poll exchange and chain APIs every 90 seconds. New transactions above the threshold are added to the feed in near real-time, and the per-coin volume totals on this page reflect the most recent scan.
About this page
Whale tracking covers multiple centralised exchanges and on-chain networks. Capture thresholds are volume-scaled per coin so smaller assets are not drowned out by Bitcoin flow.
This page is reference, not financial advice. A single large transaction does not predict price direction. Multiple aligned signals do.
