The Crypto Desk, Ep. 2: Longs Pile In While the World's News Splits

CRCryptoWorldNews·The Crypto Desk··4 min read

Just before noon UTC on Wednesday, the news mood across the world's regions ran from +2.9% in Japan to -12.9% in the Middle East. Seven of the fifteen regions on our Global board read positive and eight read negative. This week that board sits on a 3D Earth: every flag is a region coloured by the mood of its news, and the newest stories land on the planet as they arrive.

That is the new segment in the second episode of The Crypto Desk, our weekly video briefing. Every number in it was captured live from our own dashboard on 14 October 2026, between 11:46 and 11:57 UTC. Selene and Sam are AI anchors with AI voices. The data is real, and you can open every screen in the episode yourself.

The world's news mood is split

The Global tab ranks fifteen regions by the sentiment of their news this week. Japan led at +2.9%, then Switzerland at +2.4%, with the United States and Brazil both at +2.1%. At the bottom sat South Korea at -7.7%, the UK at -11.7% and the Middle East at -12.9%, from 28 stories.

Left alone, the globe tours the latest stories region by region. In the episode it lands on a BBC World report of a Houthi missile hitting an Aramco building, then flies to the United States for Investing.com's report that Morgan Stanley's profit rose on equity trading strength.

Longs are piling in, on borrowed money

The On-Chain composite read mildly bullish at 53, up 12.6 points since the day before, with network activity pulling it up the hardest. Bitcoin was running 142,000 more transactions a day than its 30-day average. The same panel carried a warning: longs are piling in. The crowd was 58.6% long, and only 14% of the 24-hour volume across the ten majors was cash; 86% was borrowed. $84.4 million was liquidated in 24 hours on the exchanges we track.

Bitcoin left exchanges, Ether arrived

The Supply composite read mildly bearish at 45. Ether's supply was expanding fast, and 37,107 ETH moved onto exchanges on Tuesday. Bitcoin went the other way: a net 3,393 BTC left exchanges on Tuesday, five times the 30-day average day. By 11:00 UTC on Wednesday, 3,663 BTC had come back.

Big money was split too

On the Whales tab, whales and fund and desk wallets were net sellers, while ETFs and companies were buying. On exchanges, $1,558 million of whale coins left and $1,357 million arrived, a net $201 million moved off in 24 hours.

ARC flagged on-chain, with a warning

The Early signals tab looks for coins moving before the market notices. Centrifuge had its first coverage, one outlet so far. The newest flag in the On-chain surge lane was ARC, a Solana pool we picked up 22 hours earlier. In the last hour 228 wallets had traded it, 3.3 times its normal pace, and it was up 10.8% on the day. The detail view also showed the risks: a safety check flagging high holder concentration, and a pool that turned over 1.91 times its liquidity in 24 hours. That is fast money, not accumulation.
